Privacy Policy for Modest Budget

1. Overview

Modest Budget is operated by 17951086 Canada Inc. (o/a v2 Labs), a corporation registered in Canada and based in Ontario (“we,” “our,” or “us”). We are committed to protecting your privacy. Our core philosophy is that your financial data is yours alone. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information in the Modest Budget mobile application.

2. Data Collection & Storage

• Local Storage: Modest Budget is a local-first application. All financial data, transactions, and budget information you enter are stored locally on your device. We do not transmit this data to our servers, and we do not have access to it.
• No Personal Information: We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or physical addresses.
• Camera Access: If granted permission, the App uses your device’s camera solely to allow you to take photos of receipts. These images are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to any cloud service by the App.

3. Third-Party Services (RevenueCat)

To manage subscriptions and in-app purchases, we use RevenueCat. RevenueCat acts as a data processor on our behalf. When you interact with our subscription paywall or make a purchase, RevenueCat automatically collects anonymous data to validate your purchase. This includes:

• An anonymous App User ID.
• Transaction data and purchase receipts from the relevant app store (Apple App Store receipts on iOS, Google Play purchase tokens on Android).
• Device information (such as device model and operating system).
• General location data inferred from your IP address (e.g., Country).

Neither Modest Budget nor RevenueCat has access to your name, email, Apple ID, Google Account, or payment details. For more information, please review the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.

Cross-border transfer. RevenueCat processes this data on servers located in the United States. By using the App’s subscription features, you understand that the limited data described above crosses the Canadian border and is handled under U.S. law in addition to Canadian law.

4. Data Export & Backups

The App allows you to export your data as a JSON file. This file is saved locally to your device. You are responsible for the security and backup of these exported files.

5. Data Retention

Because all your financial data lives on your device, we have no retention period for it — you control how long the data exists, including by deleting individual entries, exporting them, or removing the App entirely.

The anonymous purchase data described in Section 3 is retained by RevenueCat in accordance with their own retention policy.

6. Analytics, Cookies & Tracking

We do not use analytics, advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, or behavioral profiling of any kind — neither inside the App nor on our website at modest.v2labs.io. The website is a static set of pages and sets no cookies.

7. Your Rights

Because all personal data stays on your device, you can access, modify, export, or delete it at any time directly within the App. Canadian residents have rights under PIPEDA, and residents of other jurisdictions may have additional rights under their local privacy laws (including, where applicable, the GDPR). 8. Children’s Privacy

Because we do not collect any personal data, we do not knowingly collect information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the Effective Date above and post the new version at this URL. Material changes will also be highlighted in an in-app notice the next time you open the App.
